History of John Bennion, after 1842.

Copy of Bennion's autobiographical history, in which he traces the history of his family and describes his early life and conversion to Mormonism. Focuses on Bennion's father's disapproval of his religious conversion and their eventual reconciliation (Bennion's father later joined him in the United States). The history ends with Bennion's decision to travel from Liverpool to America in 1842.

John E. Bennion (1820-1877) was born in Hawarden, Wales. He was converted to the Mormon faith by John Taylor (1808-1887). In 1842 he married Esther Wainwright and a week later they set sail for the United States. A practioner of polygamy, Bennion participated in the Utah War of 1857-58 and went on a mission to England from 1872-73. From the description of Letters of John E. Bennion, 1850-1856.
